My Client spe****es in the design, qualification and manufacture of composite components. Their product range is extensive, extending from large radome primary structures on fast jets such as Typhoon and Tornado to small high temperature components for a world class engines manufacturer. In this capacity they serve the military and civil aerospace markets as well as land and maritime transport markets. They currently have a requirement for a Business Development Manager to be based either in Hertfordshire or Leicestershire. The Business Development Manager's remit will be to continue to grow existing markets and expand into new ones. It will involve domestic and international travel as reasonably required. My Client has a target list of customers within the Aerospace, Defence, Communications and Naval markets and intends to target significant sales growth from each customer. The growth will be generated by a combination of acquiring work on existing programmes and by being able to undertake larger more complex contracts. The development of individual customer strategies will be essential and the Business Development Manager will need to have significant commercial knowledge of the target markets including competitors customer base, charge out rates, and market pricing for new programmes. With the above in mind particular emphasis will be placed on establishing, and taking advantage of technical resources and capabilities across other Company Divisions. It will be important that the incumbent gain knowledge of the capabilities of the group and can propose solutions taking advantage of existing abilities and suggesting, as necessary, new ones. Specifically the tasks that will be carried out are customer visits, cost estimating, preparation of quotes and proposals, contract negotiations and subsequently transfer of successful proposals into development in order to fully satisfy customer requirements. The Business Development Manager needs to be self-motivated and be able to plan and undertake detailed discussions with a variety of organisations. Good communication skills are also essential, coupled with an open style of working and the ability to move forward with the business as the company becomes involved in more technically demanding programmes. Specifically, and with all the above points in mind, the Business Development Manager's objectives will be: •key customer relationship management. •assist the Sales Director with the creation and implementation of customer development strategies and plans. •the preparation of commercial proposals. •harnessing individual company, and group internal synergies and market opportunities; •cross-company exploitation of products, services and markets.
