| My Client offers spe****t consultancy and provides support services in the measurement of gas quality and energy metering to the oil and gas industries.
They currently have a requirement for a Senior Gas Quality Engineer
Responsible to: Operations Director
The job holder will combine scientific, engineering and administrative competences to
provide site audit and performance testing at client's sites in the natural gas
industry worldwide, both on and offshore.
Main duties:
To attend sites to carry out performance tests on gas chromatographs (GCs)
• performance testing based on ISO 10723 methodology
• audit gas quality measurement processes supporting GC operation
• transfer test gases at company from parents to sample vessels used at site
• transmit electronic data gathered at site to company for report writing
including:
• competent operation/use of the job database and related electronic documentation
relevant to job holders area of operation
• monitoring the availability of accredited test gases
• continually maintain operational skills with and contribute to in house software routines
to access and gather GC data
• liaise by telephone, fax, and email with clients to plan site visits
• maintain site operation procedures, method statements and prepare HSE statements
to obtain individual site permit to work and adhere to the client's site procedures
• maintain planned work schedule, diary, and day to day communication with Operations
Director
• arranging for transport collection and dispatch of empty cylinders or test samples from
clients
• arranging (where appropriate) for the export/import of gas cylinders/test samples to
and from clients outside of mainland UK
• administration of paperwork associated with cylinder or test sample collections and
deliveries (delivery, advice and consignment notes)
• keeping records of all information of practical relevance to the performance tests they
undertake and in accordance with the UKAS quality manual and technical methods
• obtain and keep up to date competent person training for site access, i.e. BOSIET,
SCO2
• assisting quality management with the continual development and improvement of on
site accredited quality system
• assisting the Operations Director in his day-to-day duties
Support and development of site test gas mixture supply chain
• maintain and develop systems and procedures for providing test gas mixtures, and the
preparation of sample vessels
Other duties
• assist management in the development of environment, health and safety procedures
including ADR/CDG transport regulations, cylinder storage and movement associated
with site testing
• general support to the office functions
• assist others in routine work at the request of management
Responsibilities
• maintain total confidentiality of the company business and its clients
• follow the guidelines of the code of practice of a professional chemist as provided by
Royal Society of Chemistry
Core competencies:
Degree/HND Chemistry
• understanding of communications and use of PCs in control and instrumentation (C&I)
• mechanical skills
• excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• working knowledge of Excel/Word/Access software
• good organisational and administrative skills
